The West Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA) is speeding up the draining of water channels on Jalan Kapuk Raya, Kapuk Urban Village, Cengkareng Sub-district.

Hopefully, it can minimize puddles, especially during heavy rain

West Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Head, Purwanti said the draining of the 120-centimeter-wide and two-meter-high channel had been ongoing six months ago. It was conducted along 600 meters, precisely from the front of the Kapuk Police Post to Jalan Langgar I, RW 05.

"It is done, as the channel is full of mud and stone fragments. As a result, the water can't flow well dan often causes overflowing waters when it rains," she expressed, Friday (1/19).

She explained as many as 13 personnel deployed to dredge mud up to 60-100 centimeters.

"The work progress has touched 70 percent so far and will be accelerated. This is targeted for completion in the upcoming February," she explained.

By doing so, it was expected to be able to accommodate rainwater in large quantities.

Mukri (57), a resident at Gg Langgar II, RT 11/05, Kapuk Urban Village, positively welcomed the draining work carried out by the West Jakarta SDA Sub-agency.

“We appreciate it. Hopefully, it can minimize puddles, especially during heavy rain," he stated.
